After a few days of using my Zippo, I noticed that they are starting to scorch the hell out of my pipe rims, and they are not very good for bottom of the bowl relights, but on the other hand, I think I may have solved the lighter problem once and for all. Mods, feel free to trash this thread now. I think I have my answer.

How did you manage to burn your pipe rims with the Zippo insert? In my experience that's almost impossible.
I've been using a Yibao lighter I got on ebay for the last few months. Its only downside is it doesn't have a 45 deg flame, so relights near the bottom become a little difficult with larger bowled pipes. For $8 total, I'm happy with it.

I have had 10 plus colibri lighters all but one are non functional now.spent over450$ would never purchase one again, the one that still works is a side strike flint style.
I really like my xicar scribe lighter( lifetime warranty)
