I love both of those pipes.
Your forcing me to try and find one like your 85 😄
I think the early to mid Taylor era had a much better rate of "nice blasts".

As far as birth year pipes go (1983 for me), I may never find an acceptable Dunhill, but I'd be open to ANY 1983 Ashton. That'd be quite the birth year piece for me.
One of the few pipes I'm always looking out for. Maybe one day..

I’ll keep an eye out for 83’s for you.
I need a 73 Dunhill myself and haven’t found anything worth buying either.
83 was a good year as a kid for me. Probably my favorite.
Great music, television and the Orioles won the series too.

Tend to agree about the era of great blasts. I have only 1 from '85-a pebble grain billiard-which is my best blasted pipe. It's fantastic.

I'm end of 1982. I drown in love Taylor's sandblast.

My two Ashton bent billiards. I really like both of these. They are both near the top of my list. Love the Cumberland, the traditional lines and proportions, and unique blasts. These two were both made in 2023 and show truly fantastic drilling, fit and finish, and the buttons are plenty good for me. (I did have an earlier example and do understand the large button thing people talk about) but these do not suffer from that.
The “old church” tanblast is a recent acquisition, a XX, which is funny, because it is about as close to size as the brindle XXX as you could get lol!
