Many of you know of Mitchell O's auctions, the largest Habanos auction there is, it used to be once a year with a big fancy smanshy dinner and things then it was twice a year and i believe it's 4 times a year now.

You used to be able to go there and score some deals, things like Cuban Davidoff partial boxes could be grabbed for a steal, i got a partial box of 10 Davi No 2s for 500 bucks once a few years ago, you could always find boxes of short filler cigars from the 80s for 200 or so bucks because they were a risk and not collectable, had some amazing Upmanns from the 70s and 80s on the cheap. With the Chinese tobacco conglomerate buying 49% of Habanos SA and the price restructuring for the Asian market those days are long gone, hell a FRESH Cohiba lancero is $100 buck now which is insane but a friend posted some prices from the latest auctionand these weren't even cherry picking it was just cigars he was interested in... oh well I had a good run for about 15 yrs LOL

Cohiba Millennium Piramides Full Jar $7000 / $280 a stick

06 Cohiba Piramides 10 $3600 / $360 a stick

10’ Cohiba Esplendidos (7 cigars) $1280 / $183 a stick

02’ Cohiba Seleccion Reserva (30) $14300 / $477 a stick

04’ Cohiba Sublimes (25) $17800 / $700 a stick

80’s Dunhill Havana Club (1 in Slb) $3200

80’sDunhill Estupendos Box of 10 $23000 / $2300 a stick

15’ Por Larranaga Sobressalientes (10) $3000 / $300 a stick

80’ Romeo y Julieta Celestiales Finos (25) $3800 / $152 a stick

Needed to raise a little cash, had half a 50 cab of Punch Manatua that were wonderful, paid 600 for the cab in 2021, just sold the last 24 sticks for 975 bucks and sold a box of Punch 48s (10 count box) that I paid $160 for like 4 years ago for 375, put them up on a private board and they literally sold in about 3 minutes ... shame i felt bad for asking that much now i feel bad because i could have gotten a lot more lol

I thought, the only difference between cigar and pipe tobacco production is the rolling of cigars.

I also thought in Cuba, even highly skilled rollers are not paid that much.

So when you consider production costs overall, prices are not legitimately justifiable, that all this now is Cuba greed.

I stop and think about high-end artisan pipe carvers, all the work involved, from growing briar, curing, processing and then carving up a pipe. I don’t even see the cigar world even coming close to these levels of production.

This is why they "sell" so many cigars out the backdoor, the rollers make a couple bucks a day and they get a few cigars, which they usually sell to people on the tours, or you deal with the guides who will get you bundles and meet you later, or it's just people with connections getting a dozen bundles at a time and there are countless people doing that.

Socialists are capitalists that don't share profits or pay the help.

So I’m assuming what I said is correct, and this is simply extreme greed coming out of Cuba?

No matter how rich people are, I seriously can’t believe people are buying into all this. 🤔

It’s my understanding too, that quality control isn’t so great either, so I wonder how long this keeps up, before the entire cigar smoking world realizes, that a lot of what you buy isn’t going to turn out good, to justify these costs.

Its the only place to get cuban cigars, the cream of the crop ... pun intended ... of course it's greed it's a business hell even counterfeit cubans is a billion dollar business, you want the best you take a chance and well now if you can afford it you pay for them. Allied Cigar out of Hong Kong bought a 50% stack in Habanos SA like 3 yrs ago, again it's a business, a big one, sole supplier etc.,

The problem, at least for me and my fellow poors is that the demand is still there and they are selling everything they can rush out of the factories. Just how it is i suppose.

Considering China considers themselves Communists they sure have a lot of wealth and like to buy things as commodities and have collections of those things. They are doing socialism wrong! LOL
