    Falcon Pipe Bowl

Probably can get some more mileage out of it using a screen. Really wondering about the cause -- if I was smoking too hot in would likely show with my other two bowls. Also wondering if there's any recommended treatment for briar Falcon bowls to enhance life span.

    Falcon Pipe Bowl

Have a bowl (Plymouth) about a year old where the base is crumbling around the hole. Two other bowls, comparable age and use, are not showing this. Repairable? Thanks all.

    Alexander Briars

I also received some negative feedback on quality in another forum. Sad as the filtering approach was intriguing.

A while back there was some discussion of model. I would be interested to know if anyone has direct experience. There seems to be some consensus that Greek pipes are usually pretty good.

    Uneven Tenon

Confession: the stem, not vulcanite, came way too tight & I over sanded it. If the current fix doesn't hold I'll fall back on the nail polish option, though with a brush I think epoxy could be applied just as thinly. Epoxy seemed a good first choice as epoxys are high temp resistant. If...

    Uneven Tenon

Some light flame heating appears to have done the trick. I'm always cautious here as warpage is a risk. Thanks to all.

    Uneven Tenon

Heating would be problematic as I only want to expand part of the tenon, toward the stem.

    Uneven Tenon

Title edited. Please see rule 9. I have a pipe where the tenon is loose when fully inserted yet enters the shank with appropriate tightness. I need to slightly increase the diameter of the tenon's stem half (without altering shank half's size). Anyone with experience here? I was thinking...

    DIY stem filters

Have tried -- tends to restrict draw more than I'd like.

    DIY stem filters

On the web I've been able to find 3, 6 & 9mm pipe filters. For most metal filter pipes--my experience--it would take a 4-5mm cylinder filter for stem use once the metal unit is removed. Any forum members have successful experience making your own filters? Other strategies for adapting non...

    Sharrow Philtpads

Bowl filters are a different species. They do promote a drier smoke. I do have another motive though. Just got a Tomas Spanu Lemon wood pipe. The life span of non briars (olive, lemon, hickory) is reported to be briefer. It would make sense that a bowl filter could be of benefit with pipe...

    Falcon Bowls Wish List

Meerschaum lined olive bowl pipes are all that's available from my web travels. Perhaps this thread will spark some entrepreneur/craftsman.

You can find meer lined olive on the web -- I have one.

    Falcon Bowls Wish List

I suspect a whole thread could be devoted to bowl shape and the impact on smoking experience, maybe even that certain bowls can be dedicated to a specific leaf or mix. In addition to the Bantam I've heard good things about chimney bowls.

    Falcon Bowls Wish List

Game changer in that the Bantam smokes better /tastes different from other falcon bowls?
