Decided to pop a tin of GLP Jack Knife Plug (092723)try some fresh and jar the rest.
Smells dry and dark…
Tight dry brownie. Much drier than I’d thought.
Sliced couple skinnie off, and noticed it’s cut at an angle…
So I turned it to square up the plug….
Damnit man!!!!

I got a hold of my best clever and threw it a beating
I have it in a large steel bowl airing out a little before rubbing it out and jarring it up in small jars. Im not grinding this batch as of yet and Im hoping once rubbed out it will produce the same smoking results. So far it appears to be turning out like I want!

As a follow up on the funky plug, I sent C&D an email last night at 21:15 AZ time (00:15 C&D time) and had an email from Mr Reeves making it right at 08:19 (C&D time) this morning.
I like my steaks medium rare, and my customer service well done

Tip: if you have one of this type of tins with a plastic lid, use some tin foil to improve seal and help preserving the best qualities of the aged tobacco. Plastic alone is not enough.

I smoked through a tin from 2008 (November) last year. It was absolute heaven. Will my 8 oz tin from 2021 taste as good? Perhaps, but who knows when I’ll find that out. Could be years. Enjoy!

Great looking stuff. Looks like a finer ribbon cut. The current version is more coarse cut, almost like a rubbed out flake which is typical of K&K.

I’ve had this tin for about a year. Had the red and first time trying the green. Notice the little oil globules on the lid in the last picture. I burst one and it smelled like the topping and a little rust. 
I opened an old tin of Dan’s Patriot Flake tonight. Don’t know the year, but it was pre-2008. That’s when I quit smoking regularly, before starting up again in 2020.
The flakes are quite thin and uniform. Moisture is ready to smoke.

One of my favorite Samuel Gawith smokes, Skiff. It's like a heavier version of Squadron Leader, which I find a bit too light. This one has more Orientals and Latakia.
